Mass installation and operation of smart metering infrastructure (advanced technology metering infrastructure) by the Distribution System Operator (DSO)

The project concerns the delivery of 400,000 smart meters to the EAC and the installation of 250,000 of them to final electricity customers. Funding for the project has been secured through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism up to the amount of €35,000,000.

​Smart meters are the backbone of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system and play a crucial role in the transition from passive to smart grids. The implementation of the AMI project is particularly important as it will contribute to the modernization of the EAC network and the upgrade of the services it offers to consumers. AMI will be an important tool in the hands of consumers in their effort to save energy and reduce the cost of their final bill.
