In the framework of upgrading and strengthening the Medium Voltage Network and the connection of new photovoltaic parks, EAC wishes to inform the public that construction and excavation work will be undertaken in the Larnaca District to install new cables from the 132/11kV Larnaca International Airport substation.
The project will be implemented in conjunction with an EAC Contractor and will include excavation work and other related tasks for the laying of around 6.5 km of Distribution cables. Work will be carried out along the old Dromolaxia-Airport-Holy Cross Church road, on 25th March, Street, Thebes Street, Thermopylon Street and Athinon Street in Tersefanou and along the Dromolaxia-Kiti road. The project will be carried out in sections in accordance with the timetable drawn up with the Public Works Department, the local authorities and the police.
Work will start on Friday 4 February 2022 and is due to be completed by June. The timetable of work for individual sections will be sent in writing to any properties that are affected or (wherever possible) the owners will be informed personally.
This essential excavation work will unavoidably affect access to some properties as well as road traffic. EAC will cooperate with all the involved services and local authorities and make every effort to minimize any inconvenience and help traffic flows. The Electricity Authority’s main concern is to complete the project safely and as quickly as possible, with the least possible impact on the public.
The Electricity Authority apologizes for the unavoidable inconvenience that will be caused and asks the public to show the necessary understanding and to comply with any temporary traffic signals and the directions of the police.
