Example for Calculating the Total Unit Price (per kWh)
In order to calculate the total unit price (per kWh), the unit price based on a fuel price of €600 per Metric Tonne (M.T.) is added to the Fuel Adjustment Cost, which arises from any increase or decrease in the cost of fuel, as determined by the Fuel Adjustment Clause.
The calculation below explains how the fuel adjustment price is calculated, for the bi-monthly customers connected to the Low Voltage electricity supply, where the Coefficient of Fuel Adjustment is 0,00026244 cent and the fuel price is €701,72/M.T..
Based on the fuel adjustment clause, this means that the unit price (kWh) shall be increased or decreased by 0,00026244 cent for every 1 cent increase or decrease in the basic fuel cost of €600/M.T..
The fuel price of €701,72 is €101,72 (€701,72 – €600) higher than €600 or 10.172 cent higher than €600.
Consequently, in this example the fuel adjustment cost per unit for bi-monthly customers is: 10172 x 0,00026244 = 2,6695 cent. 1
In order to calculate the corresponding total unit price (kWh), this adjustment (2,6695 cent) has to be added to the basic prices per unit (kWh) on bi-monthly customers connected to Low Voltage electricity supply, which corresponds to a current fuel price of €600/M.T.. Taking into consideration all the above, examples for calculating the tariffs for domestic use, are shown below:
