Moni Power Station
At Moni Power Station, 4 open-cycle gas turbines are installed, each with an installed capacity of 37,5 MW, utilizing diesel fuel with a sulfur content of 0,1%. These units are primarily used as peak-load units and as replacement reserves in cases of emergency failures in base-load units.
Moni Power Station produces approximately 1,4% of the total electricity generated by the Authority’s Power Stations. The thermal efficiency of the gas turbines for production units amounts to 24%.
It is noted that the decommissioning and demolition of the six old 30 MW Steam Units utilizing heavy fuel oil (mazut) has been completed. The decommissioning of these obsolete and energy-intensive Steam Units paves the way for EAC’s strategic shift toward Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems.
