\u200bThe Electricity Authority of Cyprus, whose name is synonymous with responsibility, reliability and a social conscience, has for the second year provided wheelchairs to the Cyprus Basketball Federation and the National Team. The decision to sponsor the CBF was taken in the context of EAC’s long-term policy of support for sport in Cyprus.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday 9 February 22, the Vice-Chairman of the Authority handed over two more modern sports wheelchairs to the CBF. In a brief address, George Nicolettos, congratulated the CBF on its significant work and also for its support and promotion of this particular sport and those involved in it, wishing it every success.<\/p>\n
On behalf of the Cyprus Basketball Federation, President Andreas Mouzourides said that, among the CBF’s priorities is the support and further development of the wheelchair basketball championship, noting that more actions are planned in support of the sport, and he thanked EAC for its contribution. <\/p>\n
For his part, the President of the Cyprus Paraplegics Organisation, Dr. Demetris Lambrianides, also thanked EAC for its support of wheelchair basketball and called upon all sports fans to support it in every way they can. <\/p>\n
Andis Loppas, Chairman of Alki, the latest club to register a team in the wheelchair basketball championship, stressed that great efforts are being made to ensure that his team is as prepared as possible within the short time available and he thanked both EAC and the CBF for their support of the sport.<\/p>\n
Finally, Apollon Limassol basketball player Christaks Ioannou, representing wheelchair players, said that it was a pleasure to see so much support for the sport and welcomed Alki’s team to the championship. <\/p>\n
Thanks to EAC’s generous sponsorship, the players in the National Wheelchair Basketball Team now have new, especially adapted sports wheelchairs, enabling them to play in the championship and represent Cyprus internationally.<\/p>\n
