various challenges concerning:<\/p>\n<p>Changes in the operation of the Electricity Grid (increasing needs for traceability and control of electricity flow as a result of the increasing use of RES),<\/p>\n<p>Increased need for green energy penetration in the Transmission and Distribution System; and<\/p>\n<p>Changes in technologies (increasing needs for increased grid capacity due to the use of RES and electrification of energy).<\/p>\n<p>In order to cope with the current challenges and trends, EAC is undertaking a gradual upgrade of Transmission Substations, where upgrades will be made that will allow for a significant increase in power flow, greater safety and reliability as well as the integration of RES installations and other new technologies such as energy storage.<\/p>\n<p>This project concerns upgrades of Transmission Substations “Papacostas” and “Ipsonas”, and the establishment of a new primary substation “Limassol New Port”<\/p>\n<p>Budget of the project Upgrading of Transmission Substations “Papacostas” and “Ipsonas”, and the establishment of a new primary substation “Limassol New Port”: 15,522,116.50 \u20ac<\/p>\n<p>The project is co-funded by the EU within the framework of the Cohesion Policy Programme \u201cTHALIA
