facing various challenges concerning:<\/p>\n<p>Changes in the operation of the electricity grid (increasing needs for traceability and control of electricity flow as a result of the increasing use of RES),<\/p>\n<p>Increased need for green energy penetration in the transmission and distribution system; and<\/p>\n<p>Changes in technologies (increasing needs for increased grid capacity due to the use of RES and electrification of energy).<\/p>\n<p>In order to keep up with the current challenges and trends, EAC is undertaking a gradual upgrade of transmission substations that will allow for a significant increase in power flow, greater safety and reliability, as well as the integration of RES installations and other new technologies, such as energy storage.<\/p>\n<p>This project concerns upgrades of Transmission Substations \u201cPapacostas\u201d and \u201cIpsonas\u201d, and the establishment of a new primary substation \u201cLimassol New Port\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Budget of the project Upgrading of Transmission Substations \u201cPapacostas\u201d and \u201cIpsonas\u201d, and the establishment of a new primary substation \u201cLimassol New Port\u201d: \u20ac15,522,116.50<\/p>\n<p>The project is co-funded by the EU within the framework of the Cohesion Policy Programme \u201cTHALIA
